Mia-Platform mentioned in the 2023 Gartner® Decision Point for Choosing a Runtime Platform for Cloud-Native Applications report

20 September 2023 – Mia-Platform has been mentioned in the Gartner report “Decision Point for Choosing a Runtime Platform for Cloud-Native Applications” by Gary Olliffe, Tony Iams, Eklove Mohan as an Example for Self-managed Kubernetes-based aPaaS (Application Platform as a Service).

According to the authors, “Software engineering teams must choose the optimal platforms on which to run the code they develop. The application-, function- and container-based platforms provided by public CSPs and other vendors present a dizzying array of alternatives for software architects and engineers to choose from. This decision point helps you make this decision based on the characteristics of the applications or services you are delivering. […]

The alternatives covered by this Decision Point are grouped into provider-managed and self-managed options”.

The self-managed options include Self-managed CNAP, Self-managed Kubernetes, Self-managed serverless functions, Self-managed Kubernetes-based aPaaS.

In the report self-managed Kubernetes-based aPaaS are defined as “software and/or services that provide an aPaaS-like developer experience layered over your organizations own choice of KaaS or self managed Kubernetes environments. These range from lightweight command line interface (CLI)-based tools for simplifying build and deployment through to full life-cycle-integrated software delivery environments”.

The research mentions Mia-Platform as one of the Examples for Self-managed Kubernetes-based aPaaS.
